ABOUT

Adrian is an award-winning writer and director of plays, musicals and operas.

He has created acclaimed productions ranging across many scales and styles. Cast sizes have ranged from one to one hundred, venues from town halls to opulent theatres.

In Seoul, Sweeney Todd won Best Production and was nominated for 11 awards, while Mozart drew sell-out crowds to a theatre with more than 3,000 seats.  In 2013 Adrian directed Scottish Opera’s 50th Anniversary Highlights tour, which won the UK Theatre Award for Best Presentation of Touring Theatre in conjunction with another Scottish Opera production.

Adrian was winner of an inaugural Arches Award for Stage Directors.  He has been an Associate of Cumbernauld Theatre, a Specialist Advisor to the Scottish Arts Council, and a visiting lecturer & tutor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Adrian is Artistic Director of Glasgow-based theatre company SweetScar.

Adrian’s writing has been produced in the UK, the States, Canada, Korea, Austria and New Zealand.

Adrian was born in Toronto and studied English Literature at Trinity College, Cambridge where he was a Choral Scholar.
